With an undergraduate enrollment of over 40,000 and more than 5,000 graduate students, California State University, Fullerton has the largest student body in the CSU system. Serving as an intellectual and cultural center for Southern California and a driver of workforce and economic development, CSUF ranks high on a variety of lists – from U.S. News & World Report to Forbes. They pride themselves as an emerging national model for supporting student success through innovative high-impact educational and co-curricular experiences, including faculty-student collaborative research.
Event Background
Experience CSUF was a week-long incoming student experience. Attendees were immersed in the university community through interactive live chats, live virtual presentations, on-demand video libraries in Conduit, as well as breakout rooms hosted in Zoom.
Sessions welcomed them to the university, explained housing and financial aid options, showcased a virtual campus tour, and outlined specific steps for incoming transfer and first-year students. These topics informed them of the ways they could see themselves enrolling at the university and being connected with the large campus community.
Given the wide variety of informative and engaging experiences offered during the week, CSUF included a downloadable agenda to help students plan for the sessions they wanted to attend and keep organized just like they would have received at an in-person event. This large-scale event played a vital role in CSUF’s overall enrollment yield efforts.
The Results
While over 3,300 students viewing the Welcome video is an impressive data point, the most exciting part of the results was a strategic enhancement to their Conduit platform. As part of their overall event planning, CSUF integrated a trackable Accept your Admission Offer button which encouraged students to confirm their intent to enroll with a link to submit their deposit. Over 500 students clicked that link after experiencing CSUF!
Across the seven days of programming, nearly 4,500 unique visitors popped in to check it out from across the country. Since then, they have seen a consistent level of students coming back to the platform for viewing on-demand content and reviewing next steps tasks. Offering a virtual option allowed more visibility and flexibility for students and built enrollment excitement at a distance.
